Captain Cook first landed in Australia at Botany Bay on April 29, 1770, an area now home to Sydney Airport.
Captain Cook soon set sail again seeking a mythical splendid deep water harbour somewhere to the north, discovering North & South Heads which form the entrance from the Pacific Ocean in to the now famous Sydney Harbour. They sailed in to the harbour and docked at Farm Cove, home of the Gadigal People.
Still today Farm Cove (now Circular Quay) remains the heart & soul of Sydney, with its Quay city rail & ferry hub, Sydney Harbour Bridge crossing to the North Shore, Sydney Opera House, and our Royal Botanic Gardens.
Sydney Hyde Park heritage and entertainment and shopping area joins the southern boundry of farm cove and Circular Quay.
Since then Sydney has grown in to a clean safe modern city. It has a sub-tropical climate with no extremes, tap water that is safe and healthy to drink, on-time trains, and trustworthy metered Taxis.
