Captain Cook landed in Australia at Botany Bay on April 29, 1770, an area now home to Sydney (Kingsford Smith) Airport.
Capatain Cook soon pondered the existence of a mythical splendid dee p water Harbour somewhere to the north so he set sail again and soon discovered North & South Heads which form the entrance from the Pacific Ocean in to Sydney Harbour. They sailed in to the harbour and docked at Farm Cove, then home of the Gadigal People. Still today this remains the heart & soul of Sydney, with its Circular Quay city rail & ferry hub, Sydney Harbour Bridge crossing to the North Shore, Sydney Opera House, and our Royal Botanic Gardens.
